Shipping a Car From Florida to Massachusetts

Shipping a car from Florida to Massachusetts is one of our common snowbird routes along the East Coast. Other popular snowbird routes on the East Coast include FL to CT, FL to NY, FL to NJ, and FL to PA. These routes are particularly busy in early spring when the shipping demand is at its highest. This is also the most expensive time of the year to ship a car from Florida to Massachusetts.

What is a "snowbird" you might be asking? Snowbirds are people who have a primary residence in the northern states, such as Massachusetts, but then move to southern states for the winter. Then in early spring they return home to their northern states. Florida is one of the most popular states these snowbirds flock to in the winter!

As you can imagine, there aren't a lot of people moving from Florida to Massachusetts just as winter sets in! Sure people do, but not nearly as many people who move from Florida to Massachusetts in early spring. Because the demand on this route is so much lower in late fall and early spring the shipping rates are usually at their lowest.

Florida Auto Transport

We do a lot of transports to and from Florida, particularly snowbird transports between Florida and New York (and New York to Florida). There are five areas of Florida that we primarily ship to and from. Those areas include northeast Florida, central Florida, southeast Florida, southwest Florida, and the panhandle. The sixth area that we do transports for, but not nearly as often, is the Florida Keys.

The most popular shipping hub for auto transports in and out of Florida is Miami in southeast Florida. Other popular cities in the area include West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Fort Lauderdale. Any transports to or from southeast Florida, particularly Miami, we can get done pretty quickly, but of course these cities are further south in Florida so these transports will be more expensive than cities located in the northern parts of the state.

Speaking of the northern part of the state, Jacksonville in the northeast section of the state is a great car shipping location! In fact, it's one of the better car shipping locations in Florida.

The major cities in central Florida such as Orlando, Daytona Beach, Ocala, Tampa, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and Lakeland are all great car shipping locations.

In the southwest Florida, the cities of Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Naples are all solid car shipping locations as well. Again, keep in mind that the further south you go down into Florida, the more your transport will be so Naples will be more expensive than Tampa, for example.

Heading back up north to the panhandle, Tallahassee is the best car shipping location in the panhandle, but the rest of the cities along the panhandle are hit or miss depending on the shipping location on the other side of the transport. Car carriers shy away from the panhandle unless they are shipping to or from the cities in the panhandle, such as Panama City and Pensacola, to or from cities along I-10 in the southern part of the country. I-10 is a busy cross-country trucking corridor that runs through the panhandle and through Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Otherwise if you are shipping to or from the panhandle cities to or from the northwest, north, or northeast, these transports can be challenging at times (can take more time and more money to complete).

The most challenging area to ship to or from Florida is the Florida Keys. While we can certainly do these transports, we rarely do them as so few people are going to or from the Keys with their vehicles. Shipping to or from any of the cities along the Keys (Key Largo, Marathon, Key West) will be your most expensive transport options in Florida. You can save a lot of money shipping to or from the Keys by meeting a carrier in Miami instead!

One other interesting note about carriers that do Florida auto transports, they rarely serve both coasts of Florida with the same truck load. A carrier will either do all his transports along either the west or east coast on one trip, and then the other coast on another trip. He will rarely pick up and deliver vehicles on both coasts on the same trip. That means if your vehicle is being picked up or delivered in Miami, for example, that carrier will be traveling along the east coast of Florida with his current load of vehicles.

As a door-to-door auto transporter, we can ship to and from any location in Florida. It doesn’t matter if you’re shipping to or from Key Largo or Jacksonville or anywhere in between, we can handle it! Massachusetts Auto Transport

We ship a lot of cars to and from Massachusetts, particularly on our coast-to-coast auto transports and our snowbird transports. I-90, which begins (or ends) in Massachusetts is a busy and popular trucking corridor that connects the East and West coasts. As a result, many of our coast-to-coast transports originate or end in Massachusetts.

Snowbirds are residents in the northern states that move to the southern states such as Florida during the winter months. MA to FL is one of our many popular northeastern snowbird routes in late fall. Other popular northeast snowbird routes include CT to FL, NY to FL, NJ to FL, and PA to FL. Then in early spring when the snowbirds return to their northern states, the reverse routes become very popular such as FL to MA, FL to CT, FL to NY, FL to NJ, and FL to PA.

Whether you are doing a coast-to-coast car shipment or a snowbird shipment to or from Massachusetts, or something in between, the best car shipping location in the state by far is Boston due to its population and proximity to the I-95/I-90/I-93 junction. Another terrific car shipping location is Springfield because it's right at the junction of I-91 and I-90. Aside from those two cities, other locations along or near I-90 and I-91 are usually solid car shipping locations as well in the state.

Now switching gears and looking at the more challenging car shipping locations, southeast Massachusetts can get tough. We're talking locations such as Taunton, Middleborough, and Plymouth. As you get closer to Cape Cod and as you get on Cape Cod itself, auto transports get increasingly more difficult. Expect your auto transport to cost more money and take more time with any of these locations.

The most challenging locations in Massachusetts are Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. In fact, we don't ship cars to or from those locations as our partner car carriers don't do ferry rides to or from those locations given the size and weight of their trucks and trailers. If you are shipping a car to or from the islands, you'll need to meet a car carrier on the mainland.
