Shipping a Car From Idaho to Florida

Idaho to Florida auto transports are becoming more and more common for us. Because of the relationships we’ve established with car carriers on other similar routes (WA to FL and MT to FL), we can do this auto transport route with relative ease all year long.

One of the challenges the neighboring states of Washington and Montana have is their harsh winters. Car carriers that do cross country car shipping tend to avoid those states in the winter so sometimes it can be more challenging (i.e. takes more time) to complete transports to Florida in the winter. Idaho typically has milder winters so we don’t run into that issue too often. The car carriers we contract with are usually readily available to travel from Idaho to Florida throughout the year.

The most common auto transports from Idaho to Florida are from the Treasure Valley cities of Boise, Meridian, and Nampa to Orlando, Tampa, and Miami in Florida. Depending on the route a car carrier travels, he will go through several states and may have several stops along the way. Some of the states west of the Mississippi that a driver may pass through include Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas.

To give you an idea of how long it takes to ship a car from Idaho to Florida, let’s consider the car shipping route from Boise, ID to Orlando, FL. Depending on the route the car carrier takes, this route can be as short as 2,611 miles. It will take a driver between 6-8 days to travel that route and that includes any potential stops and delays that might pop up along the way.

Idaho Vehicle Shipping

When you look at the map of Idaho, it should be easy to spot the areas where shipping cars will be the cheapest and quickest. All the cities in southern Idaho along I-84/I-86/I-15 are your best bets. Those cities include the Treasure Valley cities of Nampa, Meridian, and Boise on the west, to Jerome and Twin Falls in the south, to Pocatello and Idaho Falls on the east. This is the primary corridor car carriers travel in Idaho.

Anything outside that primary corridor is going to add cost and time to your transport particularly those towns and cities in and around the Boise National Forest and the Salmon-Challis National Forest. Most of the state highways that service these national forest areas have length restriction laws that make it illegal for longer trucks to travel on them. State highways such as 75, 55, 21, and 3 have such restrictions. When we have auto transports in these areas where longer trailers are being used, we have to have our customers meet drivers on nearby highways that don't have these restrictions.

As you head to northern Idaho, your best shipping location is going to be Coeur d’ Alene. We do a lot of shipping in and out of Coeur d’ Alene for the various car dealers we have relationships with there. It’s right on I-90 which is a very busy trucking corridor so it’s an ideal shipping location. When you get up into the panhandle to cities such as Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry, transports can get challenging so expect increased costs and time to get your transport completed.

The other thing to keep in mind is that sometimes winters can be harsh in Idaho. Cold temperatures and snow can wreak havoc on transports. As a result, be prepared for potential delays during the winter months and sometimes increased costs as well because there may be fewer carriers willing to serve the state during the winter. For example, if you need to ship a car from Texas to Idaho in late January and it's a bad winter, it could take a day or two longer to secure a carrier than it would if you did that same transport in the middle of summer.

We have been shipping cars in and out of Idaho for 20+ years so we have the experience to handle any weather Idaho throws at us. We also have strong relationships with carriers and rollback companies so we can handle transports from remote areas in Idaho to populated areas such as the Boise, Nampa, and Meridian. To find out what your Idaho auto transport will cost and how long it will take to complete, get an instant quote on our website or call us at (800) 656-7638.

Florida Vehicle Shipping

We do a lot of transports to and from Florida, particularly snowbird transports between Florida and New York (and New York to Florida). There are five areas of Florida that we primarily ship to and from. Those areas include northeast Florida, central Florida, southeast Florida, southwest Florida, and the panhandle. The sixth area that we do transports for, but not nearly as often, is the Florida Keys.

The most popular shipping hub for auto transports in and out of Florida is Miami in southeast Florida. Other popular cities in the area include West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Fort Lauderdale. Any transports to or from southeast Florida, particularly Miami, we can get done pretty quickly, but of course these cities are further south in Florida so these transports will be more expensive than cities located in the northern parts of the state.

Speaking of the northern part of the state, Jacksonville in the northeast section of the state is a great car shipping location! In fact, it's one of the better car shipping locations in Florida.

The major cities in central Florida such as Orlando, Daytona Beach, Ocala, Tampa, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and Lakeland are all great car shipping locations.

In the southwest Florida, the cities of Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Naples are all solid car shipping locations as well. Again, keep in mind that the further south you go down into Florida, the more your transport will be so Naples will be more expensive than Tampa, for example.

Heading back up north to the panhandle, Tallahassee is the best car shipping location in the panhandle, but the rest of the cities along the panhandle are hit or miss depending on the shipping location on the other side of the transport. Car carriers shy away from the panhandle unless they are shipping to or from the cities in the panhandle, such as Panama City and Pensacola, to or from cities along I-10 in the southern part of the country. I-10 is a busy cross-country trucking corridor that runs through the panhandle and through Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Otherwise if you are shipping to or from the panhandle cities to or from the northwest, north, or northeast, these transports can be challenging at times (can take more time and more money to complete).

The most challenging area to ship to or from Florida is the Florida Keys. While we can certainly do these transports, we rarely do them as so few people are going to or from the Keys with their vehicles. Shipping to or from any of the cities along the Keys (Key Largo, Marathon, Key West) will be your most expensive transport options in Florida. You can save a lot of money shipping to or from the Keys by meeting a carrier in Miami instead!

One other interesting note about carriers that do Florida auto transports, they rarely serve both coasts of Florida with the same truck load. A carrier will either do all his transports along either the west or east coast on one trip, and then the other coast on another trip. He will rarely pick up and deliver vehicles on both coasts on the same trip. That means if your vehicle is being picked up or delivered in Miami, for example, that carrier will be traveling along the east coast of Florida with his current load of vehicles.

As a door-to-door auto transporter, we can ship to and from any location in Florida. It doesn’t matter if you’re shipping to or from Key Largo or Jacksonville or anywhere in between, we can handle it!
