We ship a lot of cars from New Jersey to Florida (and from New York to Florida), especially from late October through early December. This is considered the beginning of the “snowbird” season when New Jersey and New York residents head south to Florida for the winter. While this is a great time to ship a car from New Jersey to Florida given the number of car carriers running this route, it’s also the most expensive time of the year to ship vehicles on this route because the demand for car shipments is so much greater during this period.
The cheapest time of the year to ship a car from New Jersey to Florida is when the snowbird season flips. This occurs when New Jersey residents return home from Florida after the winter season. This usually begins around late March/early April. The demand to ship cars from Florida to New Jersey is greater than the demand to ship cars being shipped the opposite direction so you can get a reduced rate when you ship a car from New Jersey to Florida in early spring. The rates will usually stay lower and flatten out overall for spring, summer, and early fall.
Depending on where you ship a car from New Jersey to Florida, the distance of this route is between 1,000 – 1,300 miles. A car carrier will travel this route in about three days. And if you’re wondering if you should book early to beat the snowbird season rush, that isn’t necessary. No matter what time of the year you are planning on shipping a car from New Jersey to Florida, you’ll want to book an order no more than seven days out from when your car will be ready to be picked up in New Jersey.

New Jersey auto transports are very popular. A few routes that are especially popular are NJ to CA, NJ to FL, and NJ to TX (and from those three states to New Jersey). No matter where you’re shipping a car to or from New Jersey, there are some locations in the state that are better than others.
Starting with the best car shipping locations in New Jersey, you’ll want to stick to those locations in New Jersey just west of New York City. Those would include cities such as Newark, Paramus, Hackensack, Elizabeth, and Linden. These are all great locations to ship to or from in New Jersey. You might be interested to know that most car carriers that ship to and from New York City actually have yards in or near these locations in New Jersey. They’ll send in small trucks and trailers to deliver or pick up vehicles in New York City from their New Jersey yards.
Other solid car shipping locations in New Jersey include Trenton and Camden. Essentially anything in northeastern, central, or southwestern New Jersey are great car shipping locations. Car carriers are serving these areas regularly.
Northwestern New Jersey can be tricky, especially when you get off the interstates. But the most difficult car shipping locations are going to be those towns and cities along the Atlantic coast. We’re referring to those cities from Toms River in the north down to Cape May in the south. All those locations along the coast and highway 9 are a bit isolated. We can (and do) deliver cars to and from those locations but these transports can take a few days longer and be more expensive as there aren’t as many car carriers that are serving those locations.
As a door-to-door auto transporter, we can ship to or from nearly any residential or business location in New Jersey, and we offer open or enclosed shipping options. See how much it will cost to ship a car to or from New Jersey by getting an instant quote today!
We do a lot of transports to and from Florida, particularly snowbird transports between Florida and New York (and New York to Florida). There are five areas of Florida that we primarily ship to and from. Those areas include northeast Florida, central Florida, southeast Florida, southwest Florida, and the panhandle. The sixth area that we do transports for, but not nearly as often, is the Florida Keys.
The most popular shipping hub for auto transports in and out of Florida is Miami in southeast Florida. Other popular cities in the area include West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Fort Lauderdale. Any transports to or from southeast Florida, particularly Miami, we can get done pretty quickly, but of course these cities are further south in Florida so these transports will be more expensive than cities located in the northern parts of the state.
Speaking of the northern part of the state, Jacksonville in the northeast section of the state is a great car shipping location! In fact, it's one of the better car shipping locations in Florida.
The major cities in central Florida such as Orlando, Daytona Beach, Ocala, Tampa, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and Lakeland are all great car shipping locations.
In the southwest Florida, the cities of Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Naples are all solid car shipping locations as well. Again, keep in mind that the further south you go down into Florida, the more your transport will be so Naples will be more expensive than Tampa, for example.
Heading back up north to the panhandle, Tallahassee is the best car shipping location in the panhandle, but the rest of the cities along the panhandle are hit or miss depending on the shipping location on the other side of the transport. Car carriers shy away from the panhandle unless they are shipping to or from the cities in the panhandle, such as Panama City and Pensacola, to or from cities along I-10 in the southern part of the country. I-10 is a busy cross-country trucking corridor that runs through the panhandle and through Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Otherwise if you are shipping to or from the panhandle cities to or from the northwest, north, or northeast, these transports can be challenging at times (can take more time and more money to complete).
The most challenging area to ship to or from Florida is the Florida Keys. While we can certainly do these transports, we rarely do them as so few people are going to or from the Keys with their vehicles. Shipping to or from any of the cities along the Keys (Key Largo, Marathon, Key West) will be your most expensive transport options in Florida. You can save a lot of money shipping to or from the Keys by meeting a carrier in Miami instead!
One other interesting note about carriers that do Florida auto transports, they rarely serve both coasts of Florida with the same truck load. A carrier will either do all his transports along either the west or east coast on one trip, and then the other coast on another trip. He will rarely pick up and deliver vehicles on both coasts on the same trip. That means if your vehicle is being picked up or delivered in Miami, for example, that carrier will be traveling along the east coast of Florida with his current load of vehicles.
As a door-to-door auto transporter, we can ship to and from any location in Florida. It doesn’t matter if you’re shipping to or from Key Largo or Jacksonville or anywhere in between, we can handle it!
