Washington to Montana is a major auto transport route for us and has been for many years. We rep three different auto auctions in Washington. Those auctions include Manheim Seattle Auto Auction in Kent, WA, ADESA in Auburn, AW, and DAA Northwest in Spokane, WA. We have trucks going from Washington to Montana weekly to pick up vehicles sold at those auctions to then transport them to private vehicle owners and dealerships throughout Montana.
The main corridor our trucks travel from Washington to Montana is I-90. Along that corridor we'll transport vehicles from cities such as Spokane, Moses Lake, Ellensburg, and Seattle. From Seattle they may travel north on I-5 to get vehicles shipped from cities such as Everett and Bellingham, or they may travel south on I-5 to get vehicles transported from cities such as Kent, Tacoma, and Olympia.

As an auto transport company with over 20 years of experience serving the state of Washington, we have transported thousands of vehicles in and out of the state. It is one of the main states we ship in and out of as we work with private vehicle owners, auto auctions, and dealerships throughout the state. As a door-to-door auto transporter, we'll go anywhere throughout the state of Washington to ship a vehicle!
The two primary shipping corridors in the state are I-5 and I-90. We regularly transport vehicles to and from Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia along I-5. Along I-90, we're regularly transporting vehicles to and from Spokane, Moses Lake, and Ellensburg. Those two shipping lanes and the cities along them are your best bets for the fastest and cheapest auto transports to and from Washington.
The most challenging car shipping areas in Washington are the northern portion of I-5 (Everett up to Bellingham) and anything west of Seattle and Tacoma in the heart of the Puget Sound (cities such as Gig Harbor, Bremerton, Port Orchard, Bainbridge Island, and Poulsbo). Transports in these areas will usually take longer and cost more – especially those in the heart of Puget Sound. In fact, we rarely send trucks over into the Puget Sound area because of the time and expense it can take. Most of our customers realize they can expedite their transports and save a lot of money by meeting a carrier in the Tacoma area.
Other challenging locations are all those towns and cities in Washington north of US Highway 2. This highway runs almost in a straight line from Spokane to Seattle. Anything north of that line is challenging. There aren't any interstates in that region of the state and the towns and cities are sparsely populated. Car carriers just aren't going in and out of those areas on a regular basis.
If you have a transport to or from Washington and you want to know what it will cost and how long it will take, get an instant quote on our website or call us at (800) 656-7638.
Shipping cars in and out of Montana is challenging for a couple reasons. First, take a look at the landscape of the state. The east side of the state is comprised of the Great Plains with sparsely populated towns and cities. Heading west from the Great Plains you run into the Rocky Mountains, and then you have the Cabinet Mountains and the Bitterroot Range in the west. Second, consider Montana’s weather. It has some of the harshest and longest winters in the country. You combine Montana’s challenging landscape and its weather, and you can understand why shipping cars to and from the state isn’t exactly a walk in the park.
The best car shipping locations in Montana are along the I-90 corridor from Billings to Bozeman, but most of the other cities along I-90, even up to Missoula aren't bad.
Other solid car shipping locations include those along I-15 from Helena down to the I-15 and I-90 junction.
Finally, those locations along I-94 from Billings to the North Dakota border are decent car shipping locations. This is a 250-mile trucking corridor that is heavily traveled by car carriers so locations along it such as Miles City and Glendive are all good locations to ship cars to or from.
The challenging car shipping locations in Montana are those locations 50 miles or more north or south of I-90 and I-94. The further away you get from those interstates, the more challenging the car shipments will be, meaning they will cost more money and will take more time to complete.
Other challenging car shipping locations in the state include those locations north of Helena and south of Dillon on I-15.
We are strategically based in Billings, MT. The two major trucking corridors in the state join and divide here, I-90 and I-94, so it is an ideal hub for car shipments to and from Montana. For the convenience of our customers, we provide free secured terminal shipping in Billings for pick ups and drop offs if needed.
